BLC members have and continue to give gallons of life saving blood through the Inova Blood Donor program. Inova Blood Donor Services collects blood at blood drives and four donor centers: Woodburn Donor Center in Annandale; CentreMed Donor Center in Centreville, Inova Alexandria Hospital and Inova Mount Vernon Hospital.
Inova Blood Donor Services supplies blood to patients at 15 hospitals in the Washington DC metropolitan area. Over 200 donors are needed everyday to help many sick and injured patients including cancer patients, newborns with complications and patients who have lost blood as a result of injury, surgery or organ transplantation. A single trauma patient can use over 30-40 units of blood in just one hour.
Blood supplies are critically low. BLC members are encouraged to give from the heart by Donating Blood or Blood Products as Frequently as Possible!
