Text Box: ENDOWING MISSION
Did you know the Bethlehem Lutheran Church has a Mission Endowment Fund Committee?
Current members of the Committee are:  Linda Clary, Dave Hartmann, Mary Schmidt, Jay Sharp, and Walt Geisinger.  Pastor Hirsch and President Conrad Lautenbacher are advisors.
The Committee will work is to get the Fund  “operational”—which means to get enough money invested in the Fund so that the INCOME from the Fund can be used to support BLC projects and BLC-sponsored mission outreach activities.
Resources for the Endowment Fund will come from various gifts—direct gifts, various planned gifts, and the like.  Fund resources are invested, and the income becomes available to support beneficial purposes not traditionally included in the church’s annual operating budget.  But all this starts with YOUR gift and the accumulation of assets in the Fund.  To consider “leaving a legacy,” talk to Pastor or to a member of your Mission Endowment Fund Committee.
You need to determine the best planned giving approach for you.  To get help looking at all the alternatives, you may request and receive free estate planning assistance from the Lutheran Planned Giving Consortium (LPGC).
LPGC Executive Director Alice Benson can reached at:  301 963-6570.

One easy way to support the future ministries of BLC is to remember our church in your Will.    For example, you might make BLC a secondary beneficiary of your estate.  You might leave everything to your spouse.  But if your spouse is no longer living, then you might take some percentage of your estate and provide it to BLC and to other of your charitable interests before distributing the remainder to friends and relatives.
