Phil Hirsch is Bethlehem's pastor. He and his wife, Dana (a special education teacher - now stay at home mom), have three children: Jason, Nathan, and Jeremy. Before coming to Bethlehem, Phil served nearly10 years as a pastor in Camden, NJ. When he began his ministry in Camden in 1990, it was the poorest city in America. When Phil was called to Bethlehem in Fairfax, it was the wealthiest county in the United States.
Phil went to seminary in Chicago and has studied and traveled extensively around the world. In 1997 he received a Doctor of Ministry Degree from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, OH in preaching. His ministry project was "Reducing the Propensity for Violence Among Youth through the Strengthening of Relationships with God, Church, Family, School, and Self." In 1998, Phil was awarded a Leadership Grant from the Lilly Foundation to study how Churches were responding to violence in South Africa.
We are a growing, caring and, energetic congregation. Our love of God and neighbor is our greatest value and highest calling. First time visitors often comment about the warm and friendly feeling they experience at worship.
If you are looking for a church home, or just a nice place to worship, come to Bethlehem.
Pastor Philip C. Hirsch
